The Bradley Therapy Service is Oxleas NHSFT’s psychological therapy provision in the six Kent prisons (HMPs Swaleside, Elmley, Standford Hill, Rochester, Maidstone and East Sutton Park). We use a trauma-informed approach that has at its foundation the understanding that individuals in prison have often suffered traumatic histories and are likely to experience distress in adult life, particularly during stressful circumstances.

The service is based on the idea that safe relationships bring psychological repair and our interventions range from psychoeducational material to longer-term psychological therapies using Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) skills and trauma models. We use a needs led approach and interventions are delivered through group and individual work alongside mental health inreach and partner agencies across the prison.
